Check Out this Year Map of Animal Holidays

So it’s officially the holiday season, and everyone’s preparing for festive parties and jolly gatherings, but we must not forget about our beloved ones! Yes, we mean our pets, of course. While we have our human holidays and festivities, it’s easy to forget that maybe our furry buddies are missing out in the action. As a kind courtesy to our beloved furry ones (or not so furry), a bunch of humans have gotten together and declared official animal holidays and we’re going to disclose the best ones here!

Oh, and as a fair warning, not all of these holidays will make sense – some of them are to commemorate fictional animals too!

Best of January

January 18	Winnie the Pooh Day	Did you know the first series was published in 1926, and Winnie is based of a real live bear!
January 21	Squirrel Day	Squirrels can sniff out food in as much as a feet of snow.

Best of February

February 15	National Hippo Day	Did you know that hippos are actually super dangerous and attack more people than sharks!
February 27	National Polar Bear Day	Yikes! Polar bears are endangered – they certainly do need to be remembered.

Best of March

March 4-6th	International Festival of Owls	Owls can turn their heads as much as 270 degrees!
March 16th	National Panda Day	The poor panda is endangered – this day is a good day to try and help out.

June 14^th	World Sea Turtle Day	Sea turtles have been around for 150 million years!

July 21st	Monkey Day	Did you know some non-human primates share 98% of their DNA with us!?

August 20^th	World Mosquito Day	Mosquitoes are actually needed by the ecosystem as food and to help cycle nutrients.
