Pallas’s Cat

Pallas’ cats are small adorable, pretty face, solitary, stocky cat of the same size of a domestic cat. These cats are wild cats and lives near the region of central Asia steppes and some areas of Tajikistan, Mongolia, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan and western china. The color of these cats is blackish brown.

Ancestors:

Pallas cats are from the family of domestic Persian breed. These cats have long fur, flattered face and stout build like Persian cats. These cats are also famous as manual, which is a word of Mongolian language, which means “ ugly eared” although these cats are very beautiful and attractive.

Normal Size:

These cats are of a normal size as of domestic cat but its fluffy fur makes it look like very big and heavy cat. Their length is about twenty-six meters including a tail of almost 12 inches. The weight of adult Pallas cat is about 10 pounds.

Eyes:

The eyes of these cats are different from other cats. Their eyes consist of pupil contract into tiny circles rather than usual vertical slits in cats

Habitat:

Pallas cats are very choosy about where to live. They live in central Asia from western China to western Iran. These cats prefer arid, cold environment of grassland and rocky steppes at the height of about 15000 feet.

Longest Fur:

Pallas cats have densest and longest fur than any other cat. The fur of this cat has nearly doubled the size of tail and belly. The fur helps the cat to keep himself or herself warm in cold and freezing weather. The length of fur of Pallas cat increases in heavy snow. This cat can change two colours. In winters, their fur becomes gray whereas in summers ochre colour and stripes appears on its fur. The tail of Pallas cat has black rings, dotted black spots on foreheads, and dark stripes on face.

Non-friendly Cats:

Pallas cats are non-friendly cats and love to live lonely. These cats are territorial and solitary with both female and male having their territory of about three miles. They spend their most of time in crevices, burros and caves formed by other animals

Mating season:

The mating season of Pallas cat is the shortest among all cats. The female Pallas is in estrus for only 42 hours. Mating happens in February and March. Females give birth to maximum six little kittens after 2 months in April and May. The four months kitten start hunting with their mothers and in eleven months, they are ready for breeding.

Ambush Hunter:

Pallas cat observes their prey by hiding under rocky terrain and vegetation and then hunt them.

Slow Cats:

Pallas cats are not good in running their speed is very slow. Their slow speed is because of their compact body. When any animal attacks them, they try to hide in small crevasses and boulders.

Sounds:

These cats can make a different sound. They growl or yelp when they are happy.
