The following tips are going to help you keep your pets safe besides providing a good environment for their stay:
The Living Room
You should ensure you have dangling wires for lamps, television sets and stereos. You should also ensure that your telephone set is out of their reach.
Be in a habit of keeping away toys and other things children use to play.
Poisonous house plants should be fenced or moved away from where the pets can access.
All your air vents should be covered to prevent the pet from trying to walk through them.
Heating and air conditioning equipment should be covered to prevent burning the pets.
Garage Area
Poisonous chemicals should be put on high shelves or be locked in lockers or behind tight doors.
Always be inspecting you cars hood by banging it, this ensures that pets such as cats don’t hide inside the engine for warmth.
Keep the sharp objects out of reach for the pets to prevent them from being cut.
Bedrooms
Be in the habit of keeping all laundry and shoes behind doors that are closed as they can kill your pet if swallowing attempts are made.
All medications, perfumes and lotions should be kept out of reach as they can be poisonous if ingested by the pets.
Telephone cables among other cables should be run in places where they will not suffer the risk of being chewed.
Always do routine checkups to ensure you do not lock you cat or dog inside closets or drawers.
Kitchens and bathrooms
Check your dryer for kittens before you turn it on.
Your toilet lids should always be closed so as to prevent you pets from drowning in them or drink harmful water and other toxic cleaning chemicals.
Keep food out of reach, this will prevent the pets from eating up your food or coming into contact with harmful wrappers.
Trash cans should always be covered so as your pets don’t start feeding on food leftovers or just play inside the dirt bins.
Medications and other cleaning chemicals should be kept in closed cabins or high shelves where pets can reach them.
When closing your doors, be in the habit of checking for kitten’s noses or paw and also tails, this is key as it is very easy to hurt your pets using the door especially when closed or shut with force.
Childproof latches can be installed in the kitchen and bathroom; this will prevent little paws from preying open cabins.
Homestead
Your homestead should be surrounded using railing material. The railing material should have small enough spaces that will not allow the pets to move across them. This will prevent them from accessing the road where they can end-up being run-over by motorists
