The bathroom has to be one of your cat’s favourite spots to visit, but what’s behind this fascination? Here are a few reasons to explain your cat's love of the bathroom.
Cool place to hang out in the summer
Nobody can deny the fact that cats love to curl up in a sink, especially a circular or oval one, and settle down for a few zzzz’s. It’s the perfect cat cradle, it’s dark and quiet, and the cool ceramic tile feels so good.
Follow the leader
Your cat may follow you to the bathroom or the kitchen or the bedroom or the living room. Wherever you are in the house, your cat is sure to find you and hang out. And if you’re behind a closed door, curiosity will get the better of your cat and he or she will likely come knocking.
Bathtub for games
The slippery surface and angular side panels of the bathtub make it the ideal place to bat around a few catnip mice and foam balls. One bat of kitty’s mighty paw and that toy will take flight, simulating a real-life game of catch. It’s a mentally and physically stimulating experience for your cat and a whole lot of fun to watch.
Endless supply of fresh water
When kitty wants a cold, refreshing drink of water, the bathroom is the perfect place to be. Here the water runs free and kitty’s free to jump up on the counters without getting into trouble.
It’s all part of the routine
Our pets become so accustomed to our daily routine that it’s natural for them to be a part of it. When you get up in the morning and kitty shows up to watch you shower, he does so because he knows it’s the last time he’ll see you again until after work. You could say it’s his devotion to you that draws him into the bathroom.
Now that I have your attention
It’s also a great place to capture your attention. If you’re on the toilet, your cat knows he has you captive for a few minutes and she will use this time to wind between your legs, accept a few head pats and be on her way. So don’t be embarrassed. In a way, it’s your cat’s way of bonding with you.
