Dressing Up Your Pet Photos!

Growing up, I shared my birthdays with a short dog similar to the one in the very comical picture above. Her name was Heidi and my parents got her when I was toddler because they didn’t want me to fear dogs. My mother worked in a veterinary clinic; she was very passionate about animals. Some people just have that extra umph in their pet ownership. My mother always kept Heidi very well groomed, nails painted and bows in her soft floppy ears. Now I am not saying every pet owner should try holding up to that standard, but I do think it is really fun for photo shoots. This blog will give you some fun ideas for your pets so that the next pictures you upload on your profile are your absolute favorites.

Painted Paws!

This always looks really cute. I would only recommend doing this with your dog or another well tempermented pet. Not every pet will be very keen on this idea so make sure you know whether or not your pet likes their paws/feet touched and played with. For dogs especially, a good time to do this is after they’ve been groomed. Just make sure fur isn’t blocking the nails so that it doesn’t look sloppy and so you can actually see the beautiful manicure once it’s done.

Bows & Ribbon!

These items can be used to enhance your pet’s pictures. Male or female, using these items creatively are a pretty simple way to make a picture extra special. Make a bow from the ribbon or make a cool decoration on your pet’s collar with the ribbon/tulle.

Props!

Giving your picture a theme will definitely make the picture fun. If you have a color theme, find an a fun item that matches. If you have a holiday theme, find an item what matches that theme! Be sure it’s not something your pet would be tempted to eat or get hurt with.

Backdrop!

Last but not least, the backdrop (also known as the background). The rule of thumb for taking photos of your pets or anything in virtually any scenario is to have a good background. If it’s a picture for Easter; try photographing your pet outside in the grass! If it’s a Christmas picture; try photographing them by the tree or in the snow! These are just some examples of easy ways to implement a nist background into your picture.
