Dogs and cats seem to be cropping up in all sorts of weddings across the world, starting with one handsome fellow who truly is man’s best friend, or best man.
Zeus, an Alaskan Malamute proudly walked up the aisle with his doggie parents as best man, carrying their wedding rings in a box attached to his paw. Zeus was not the only dog in attendance, the wedding party included about a dozen other dogs, as well as some beautiful horses.
The bride and her father arrived at the church on horseback, and six of the 12 dogs were paired up with one of the bridesmaids in what can only be described as an animal lovers’ wedding. The couple are owners of Karebear Kennels in the county of Kent, UK.
Dogs unite for life
Meanwhile in the U.S., two bonded pit bulls get hitched so they never have to be apart again. After finding the abandoned senior dogs in a cemetery in Maine, Kennebec Valley Humane Society rescued them and renamed them Jack and Diane. To make sure the pair remain together, they hosted a wedding ceremony for the canine couple as a clever way to seal the bond and attract the attention of their future human parents. The dogs delighted in the event, lapping up all the attention and showed everybody just how lovable pit bulls can really be.
Nuptials for cat lovers
Cat lovers across the globe who are about to seal the knot with their special someone are getting creative by including their furry loved ones in their nuptials. One couple from Washington, D.C., wanting to share their passion for cats, flew to Hawaii to the Lai City Cat Sanctuary to say their vows in front of 501 cats.
Similarly, one couple from Quebec followed suit and decided to hold their wedding ceremony in California’s Cat House on the Kings, a cat sanctuary with a no-kill, no-cage policy. A total of 1,100 cats were present for the happy couple’s betrothal ceremony, roaming freely and stopping to pose for the odd photograph.
Staying closer to home, a Pittsburgh couple decided to hold their wedding day inside their favourite cat café surrounded by a dozen cats. The couple would spend their date nights at Colony Cat Café, getting to know each other and sharing their love of cats, so it was the purrfect venue for their special day.

But when there is no human groom to be found, why not marry your canine best friend instead? That’s exactly what one woman in the UK did: she married her retriever Logan on a popular national morning TV show in Britain. After four failed engagements, 220 disastrous dates, and countless other letdowns, Elizabeth Hoad turned to her beloved and loyal canine as her true love. Logan was suitably and smartly dressed in a top hat and tuxedo for the ceremony and willingly gave his paw in marriage.
Hoad is not the only one promising their hearts to their loyal companions. Wilhelmina Morgan Callaghan from Northern Ireland is still blissfully married to her dog Henry, a Yorkshire terrier, after eight wonderful years.
It is, of course, illegal to marry your pets, but that doesn’t stop people from going through the motions, and from what we can see, they’re much happier for it.
