Pampered Pooches As It Happened May 2, 2015

Liberty Village was host to Toronto dogs and dog lovers last weekend for the first time with the inaugural annual event called Pampered Pooches. Sponsored by Royal Canin, the event brought out many doggie aficionados, offering unique products and services for the pampered pooch about town.
From dog food to doggie fashion, to breeders and healthcare professionals, more than 50 vendors participated in this event.
Many unique and wonderful doggie specialists showed up for the show like Cara’s Pet Portraits and A Leg Up, dog-walking services.
But the real stars of the show were the many adorable dogs that showed up with their doting pet parents, like camera-shy Cookie here.
There were even some rare breeds that you don’t often see on the streets of Toronto. Take a look at this wonderful Puli, Mumford. An intelligent and active herding dog originally from Hungary, the Puli’s wonderful coat is practically waterproof and requires regular grooming. The Puli is a perpetual puppy that requires lots of exercise and is happiest outdoors with enough space to run around.
It’s always great to see so many healthy and adored dogs out enjoying themselves with their owners, like the beautiful Storm here, a Siberian Husky. One of the oldest breeds of dogs, the Siberian Husky is part of the Spitz family, and displays many of the same characteristics as the wolf.
You’d be forgiven if you’ve mistaken the Coton de Tuléar for a Havanese before, as they are quite similar in appearance. Originally from Madagascar, the Coton gets its name for its cottony soft coat. This breed is growing in popularity for its low shedding, low dander and sweet, non-doggie odour, not to mention its affectionate temperament. Here, Zarya and Kylie show off their playful nature, making it almost impossible to capture them sitting still.
As you can see, the one-day doggie festival, Pampered Pooches, attracted quite the crowd last Saturday. We can’t wait to see what they have in store for next year.
