The Scoop on Holistic Pet Care
May 24, 2016
There is a given routine that is observed while taking a sick pet to the vet. First, the pet is examined by the doctor, a shot may be administered, and then a prescription is written to fix whatever the problem is. However, some pet owners are now ignoring this traditional step and using a new approach – holistic pet care.
Holistic pet care entails giving a whole treatment to the animal instead of just isolating a problem. What this means is that the biggest picture possible is looked at. Factors such as the emotional environment or an injury affecting the pet are considered. Other issues like a balance in nutrition are as well factored in.
Holistic pet care methods
For ages, the pet holistic medicine has been around but recent times have seen the same start gaining popularity.
This kind of treatment is not an all one sided feature. Several approaches can be used in taking care of the pet health. The popular methods are:
· Homeopathy. The principle used in this school of thought is “like cures like” so as to get the disease handled. For instance, you may be told by a homeopathic practitioner that you are having diarrhea because you are attempting to get better. You will then be availed with something that can kick start the self-resolution.
· Chiropractic. Just the same way their counterparts who deal with human treatment, the chiropractors who tend to animals are of the opinion that any illness is caused by a physical disorder. The spine may be misaligned in some way. In that case, aligning the spine is thought to have the ability of making energy to flow. Then later on, the animals will be good and repair themselves.
· TCVM. This is an acronym that stands for Traditional Chinese veterinary medicine. In TCVM, the pet illness results from pet’s body imbalances. In an aim to bring back the balance, ‘opposite’ treatment is implemented. For example, if your pet starts to diarrhea, then anything that may be the reason for the sickness is looked into. This could be heat, or cold or any other occurrence. Chinese can also be used. One of them is acupuncture: placing small needles underneath the skin.
· Diet. Most people consider it to be a hard thing to feed a homemade diet that is well balanced. They would rather not be bothered by it. Of course it is definite balanced homemade diet will not tackle all the pet health problems. It can however handle issues like itching and digestion.
It does not matter the type of method you decide to go for. Most practitioners will use a sufficient amount of time examining the pet. The treatment offered will have to be a personalized one. You will be asked lots of questions. All will be intentioned at getting the past health history of your pet. The questioning can go for close to an hour. Just be keen enough to provide accurate response to the questions.
