Travelling with your Cats

In our life, we travel allot, sometimes due to some work and sometimes just to refresh themind. Travelling of a pet owner without his/her pet is not a good option to consider asno one can take care of your pet as you can. Your pet attachedwith you and you are well familiar with their daily routine so it is better to accompany your pet especially cat or a dog with you. Cats are usually not good at travelling they feel a little stress while travelling so following are some of the useful tips to make your cat travelling enjoyable and stress-free.

Travelling in Car:

  • Take your cat out for travelling with the leash having her name, owner’s name, phone number and address so that in case your cat get lost people could easily contact you.

  • Take your cat’s carrier secured with seatbelt along with you, with padding so the cat can easily move without any fear of injury of falling down and at the same time, it will feel relaxed, safe and comfortable.
  • If the journey is long, make sure the cat does not stay all time in the carrier. Park your car periodically, so the cat can come out easily without any trouble for drinking water, having food and use thelitter box. Do not feed your cat over just give her little food less than she takes normally, this will reduce the danger of vomiting. Open the doors of the car to refresh her with fresh air. Moving in a car will help in releasing stress.
  • If travelling in summer makes sure the car in cool, enough as the cats overheats within no time. Be prepared for an alternate in case your car AC goes out. While in deadly winters, take extra blankets of thecat along with you.
  • If staying in thehotel always check that if they allow pets to enter or not before booking. If they do not allow book the one, which allows apet.
  • After reaching, try to minimisecat's stress by letting her take rest. Do not feed her immediately after reaching. First, let her relaxes and then feed her.

Travelling in Plane:

  • Book the tickets of anairline that allows thepet to travel with you. There are two options of travelling with pets, one is in cargo and the second is in acabinet with you. The best is to travel with your cat in thecabinet but if it is not affordable you car cargo her.
  • If you can afford cabinet, try to book as early as possible because there are ajust limited number of cabinets available for pets in each airline that allows apet.
  • Approve your cat’s carrier from theairline, if its size is big for cabinet then buy a new one whose size is suitable for thecabinet. Cover the carrier with the cloth, the less the cat will see the less she will take stress
  • Take your cat'sfavourite food with you whether travelling in a cargo or cabinet
  • Do not take the cat out of carrier before reaching the final destination.
