Champion Cat Show Winners

Every summer cat lovers across the GTA enjoy the spectacle of the CNE’s beloved cat show. But not this year because of Covid. So we’re bringing some highlights of other champion cat show winners across the world instead. Enjoy!

The cat taking the top spot at the 2019-20 Canadian Cat Association (CCA) was a Blue Point Mitted Ragdoll cat by the name of Trouble Comes in Blue.

Taking the second and third spot were a Cameo Mackerel Tabby, Oriental by the name of Flynn and a Brown Spotted Tabby Bengal called Morphe.

That same year at the Cat Fanciers Association Cat Show in China a Seal Lynx Point & White Ragdoll cat by the name of Kunlun also took first place.

Taking the second and third spot were a Chocolate Silver Tabby & White Devon Rex by the name of Cappuccino and a Brown Tabby & White Shorthair Scottish Fold called Dang Dang.

But these cats don’t hold a candle to the popularity of the Ragdoll.

Every year, the Cat Fanciers' Association, Inc. (CFA), which is the world's largest registry of pedigreed cats, put out a list of the world's 10 most popular cat breeds based on the number of registrations they receive. The CFA officially recognizes 45 pedigree breeds as well as non-pedigree companion cats. For 2020, the Ragdoll made it to the top of the list, making it the number one most popular cat in the world.

The CFA describes the Ragdoll as an affectionate, large, laidback semi-longhaired cat with an extremely loyal, gentle and playful nature. They love to follow their humans around the house and are known to run and greet you at the door when you come home. No wonder they’re so popular.

Last year’s CFA winner in America was a Copper-Eyed White Shorthair Manx by the name of Arctic Storm. The most outstanding feature of the Manx cat is their lack of tail. The second has to be their big, round copper eyes. In fact, everything about the Manx cat is robust and round. Their delightful round head and rounded cheeks give them a jowly, baby face, much like the British Shorthair.

The Manx originated from the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea and comes in longhair and shorthair and many different colours. They are a working cat with a strong constitution and exceptionally strong hind legs, making them good at jumping up high, running fast and turning quickly. They are affectionate and intelligent cats that are devoted to their family.

Second and third place winners were a Brown Tabby American Shorthair by the name of American Strong and a Brown Tabby & White Maine Coon Cat called Gimme Three Steps.
