How Can A Pet Help Its Owners?

Animals have played a very important role in human lives since the beginning. They are used as a source of food and help man to hunt for food. Today more people are inclined towards keeping animals as pets in their homes. People have developed compassionate relationships with their pets. Pets also prove to be very friendly and loyal companions for their masters.

Pets can be very useful for their owners such as dogs; they have a very keen sense of smelling and hearing which can serve many purposes for a pet owner. For instance people who are fond of hunting often keep dogs with them. Dogs can lead them to their prey to hunt it or even it can smell the location of a hunted prey. This way of helping was more useful in the past times when people hunted animals to gain food.

Pets are known to best bond with children and prove as their best playmates. Children who have animals as their companion are found to be more confident than the children who stay away from animals. A study conducted in the United States among 394 students tells that the children who owned dogs or cats as pets in their childhood expressed more confidence than children who never had any pets. Pet owners find pets as stress buster for their children.

Pets serve their handicapped masters very well. For this purpose they are trained to substitute the functions of that body part. Dogs can help their blind masters to go anywhere. Similarly, primates like monkeys, apes and its other kinds are helpful for paraplegics. These pets are especially trained to grab objects and carry out different tasks such as fetching the water bottle from the refrigerator. These pets love their masters unconditionally and without the help of these pets the lives of these handicapped people would be totally wrecked.

Pet owners are less likely to develop stress, cholesterol levels and blood pressure. These people also have low chances to develop heart diseases. Research study tells that an animal’s presence has valuable effects on the overall well being of its owners.

Animals as pets are a great source of happiness for many people. Millions of people world over today acquire pets to eliminate loneliness from their lives. These pets contribute to the wellbeing of their owners every day and behave like their social buddies especially when their masters are leading a lonely life.
