Canadian Beagle Takes The Crown At Westminster Kennel Dog Show

It was a surprise win for BC’s Miss P at the Westminster Kennel Dog Show this year. One of only two beagles to make it to the top in the dog show’s 139-year history, Miss P beat out 2,700 other contestants. As winner of the coveted Best in Show title, Miss P also took the number one spot in the hound category.

Beagles are a small to medium sized dog and make a great family pet. They are friendly, affectionate and very playful. As a scent hound, they are extremely motivated by food and will get into all sorts of trouble if left alone with food. Because of their powerful noses (second only to the Blood Hound and Bassett Hound), beagles like to venture off and are known for disappearing on their owners.
Despite their size, they do require a lot of exercise and with that beagle bark of theirs, they don’t make the ideal pet for apartment dwellers.
Miss P is a soft-spoken beagle that hails from a small town in BC’s Interior called Enderby. Upon her return home, she’ll be honoured as one of Enderby’s most famous residents. The town tends to celebrate with a parade and perhaps the title of Mayor For A Day!
